Nexium is a frequent drug of abuse in children and adolescents. Children have reported a prolonged and painful dependence on this drug. The first study we’ll discuss is the largest ever to be done to study the efficacy of NEXIUM® (esomeprazole magnesium) tablets in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
This is a new study that compared esomeprazole, a medication used to treat GERD, with a placebo. It’s important to note that the study was a placebo-controlled, non-interventional trial, and the results can vary depending on the type of study.
The results of esomeprazole showed that in the first week of treatment, most patients were satisfied with the medication’s efficacy. However, after that, the patients continued to have a higher percentage of side effects, including stomach pain, constipation, and diarrhea. Patients reported a more favorable response to NEXIUM, which is an older drug used to treat conditions such as stomach ulcers.
